Blockchains are deterministic by design: every participant must reach the same result. That makes it difficult to generate random numbers that no one can predict or manipulate—something many games, lotteries, security systems, and decentralized applications need.

This paper examines how decentralized offchain entropy providers can supply randomness to onchain applications without depending on a single trusted source.
